2003 Taylor Fladgate LBV Port

I have to say that the more LBV ports I have, the more I'm a believer. At about a quarter of the price of a VP, LBVs deliver 75% of the pleasure. This bottle was a new arrival at BevMo, and on sale for $18. Pop and pour.

Prunes and alcohol initially on the nose and palate, but some aeration in the glass gave-way to dark, bittersweet chocolate, raisins and a touch of raspberry liquor. Not too sweet with a nice acid backbone on the finish. I would occasionally get hints of alcohol but overall the wine was nicely balanced.

There's 80% of the bottle still left in my fridge, so I'll report any changes as I nurse this over the next week or so.

Thanks for the TN Mike, Hopefully by day 2 or 3 the that spirit should mellow out and give way to some soft fruit. If you can find it, try the '03 Niepoort LBV, It's a major step up from the Taylor's.
