2000 Quinta da Carolina Vinho Regional Tras-Os-Montes:
A dry wine from Jerry Luper’s (Real Compania Velha aka Royal Oporto) own quinta, which I believe he has recently sold. There was either brett or reduction on the nose and we couldn’t quite figure out which. However, the palate showed no signs of either. Lots of ripe red fruits on a well balanced palate. While a very well made dry wine, it just didn’t have anything that really reached out and grabbed me. But I think this was about $20 when released and at that price worth getting for a solid daily drinker. I’m not sure how long this would age, but it is holding quite well at the moment and I don’t see it going downhill anytime soon. 88 points. 12/27/08

Yes Andy, it was sold. Owner of wine shop Garrafeira Tio Pepe is the new owner. When I met him in September he wanted to keep the name but changed the label if my memory serves me well but this week I heard a gossip saying the name will change. Is it the brand, the quinta or both, needs to be confirmed.
