What is this ?
I have just got this bottle but I am a Port Lover and don't know much about Madeira so this must be the place to get some help. Can anybody tell me something about this bottle that I have bought here in Denmark. It was delivered to a danish wine shop in 1966 and folloved by a letter to the wine shop. I got the letter together with the bottle.

You have a Borges 1790 Terrantez. I've never had it but have heard it is fabulous. I have heard of a few bottles come up for sale every now and again at several thousand US Dollars per bottle. It is a very rare bottle. I am quite envious!

Wow! What a special bottle. And the note really is great to see as well. Thanks for sharing that!

As a fan of H.M. Borges and like others here, a visitor to their facility ... I'd love to know which one of the family members, signed the letter. Just curious, nothing more.
You have landed yourself an extraordinary find. It is known as one of the great Terrantez' produced.

Re: What is this ?
And here is the answer to "who has signed the letter"
Dear Mr Bodker,
Thank you for your e-mail and for the letter.
That letter was signed by my grandfather João Henriques Gonçalves married
with my grandmother who's name was Maria Borges and was the daughter of the
founder of the H.M.Borges - Henrique Menezes Borges. So in 1966 my
grandfather was the director of H.M.Borges so the signature is H.M.Borges
Lda.
I hope this is clear for you.
And if you had any more questions please dont hesitate to contact us.
With my best regards,
Isabel Borges

Re: What is this ?
Wow, quite interesting and how cool is it to have the paperwork for the bottle as well. Amazing that it has survived and has not been tossed out many years ago.
