I received some material today which included some great information and pricing on four of the Symington Family Estate's Vintage Ports.
Here is the SRP for the USA:
Graham's: $90
Dow's: $76
Quinta do Vesuvio: $74
Smith Woodhouse: $56
Without reading much into this, it is clear the "positioning" of the different shippers in their portfolio. I wonder how much the points by various writers have affected the strategic plan of coming up with the SRP for these? Possibly not at all.
Inversely proportional to my taste. Here's to not going with the crowd! (At least for past vintages. I can't really say for the 2007s as I haven't had any of them yet.)
The Smith Woodhouse is the only one I've tried (as a cask sample), and it's a very solid Port. I can't judge the QPR of the others, but at $56 I think you'd be happy with the Smith Woodhouse.
