Casa Ferreirinha Vinha Grande 2002

Post by Brian C. »

I bought a bottle of this recently for about $13. It had the good fruit and tannin combination I have come to expect in the Portugese field blends. The finish was a bit rough, though it's not quite as harsh when it's a bit below room temperature.

This is typically a nice wine and that is a solid price too, albeit 2002 was a very odd year for Douro wine and Ports, however, there are certainly exceptions out there, but less so with Ports.

Roy,

Is it a good rule of thumb to stick to years that were declared port vintages when it comes to Douro table wines?
