Bought this at a hole-in-the-wall shop for a cheap price. Surprisingly dark color. A bit of a harsh and medicinal flavor that overwhelmed any traces of fruit that might have been hiding in this wine. Storage conditions are immediately suspect. After 10 hours of decanting, this did not improve. Not much pleasure here. Not a representative bottle, I assume. (79)

No, that doesn't sound like my experience earlier this year, at which point I wrote:
I also marked it as one of the two (the other being Taylor) out of eight 1977s tasted that I wanted to try to buy.Deepest dark color of any of the 1977s. Light aroma, some wood, sweet and fruity-orange? Medium body, strong tannin, and long finish.
