2007's at Costco

Post by Moses Botbol »

Costco is deep into 2007's. Yesterday, my local store had Fonseca 1.5's and Taylor 375 12 packs for sale. They Taylor OWC was really nice looking. Had some varnish without stain and it looked sharp.

I can't imagine picking up any. Plenty of older vintages selling at similar prices. I love the labels Fonseca is using. It looks more of a top brand product then what they had before.

What was the price on the Taylor 375ml 12-packs?

$155 for the Fonseca mag isn't bad compared to their standard bottle price, but like you at that price I think I'd rather buy something that's already aged and known to have aged well. Like a 1985 Fonseca, for example.

Don't remember the price at all. Actually, I don't recall seeing the price. Really nice looking OWC is what caught my eye.

What looked like a better deal was a 6 packs of 375's of Yquem for around $350. They were all the same vintage.

Those Yquem's are probably 2005 vintage.

Good to see more Port being sold at Costco as it will put it forefront in the mindset of American consumers.

$155 for a Mag of the 2007 Fonseca/Taylor is a darn good price! It will look cheap down the road.

I showed Glenn some of my 1994 Niepoort Mags @ $60. yesterday and 1992 Niepoort mags for some reason at a higher price of $79. Today those are decent 750 prices.

I just wish it were all across the country. In the backwaters of Northern Virginia, all you can find port-wise at Costco is Warre's Warrior, Dow's Boardroom, or Dow's LBV (2004 I think is the one I saw a few weeks ago).

The irony here is my first bottle of port was purchased at a Costco about four or five years ago...a Fonseca 2000 VP. Back then they also used to have Cockburn 20's and Taylor 10's. Don't think I've seen any VP's or Tawny's since in the three Costco's in this area. [shrug.gif]

Maybe I just don't go there often enough at the right time. Or maybe the above posts is indication of a changing trend... [beg.gif]

I found 2007 Quinta do Vesuvio at the Costco in Glenview for $58 today. I bought one of the last two remaining in the bin.

Brian,

You really left one bottle behind?

You have far too much self control! :soapbox:

Vesuvio 2007 at Costco for $58? O.k., today I wish the Colorado liquor laws were different.

His original post was almost 2 years ago so I'm sure they're all gone by now. But what a screaming deal that was!
