1963 Delaforce Vintage Port

Several of us at a local restaurant buy bottles of port and leave them behind the bar for any of us that wish to sample them. This is one of my recent botles. This one had been seeping for a long time; there was a layer of raiseny sugar/tar on top of a very wet crumbly cork. On opening, decanting through a filter, and returning to a rinsed out bottle, we found a medium-brown port with little fruit and a pronounced nuttiness (Eva said, "Martzipan" at her first sip) almost like a tawny port. Definitely the hit of the evening. Extremely mellow, with no hint of hardness in the finish as you sometimes get with tawny, or older vintage ports.
