1977 Warre's Vintage Port
Clear, light ruby color. Nose of raspberry and licorice, with passing notes of dark chocolate and sweet buttercream. Similar palate, with cherry and cinnamon. Considerable hot spirit emerged late, but did not completely spoil the very long, sweet finish. Very little sign of maturity in this bottle, a little linear but clean. Filtered and decanted 2 hours, this barely changed at all over the next 6 hours. Drink now, or hold to see if further aging adds some more interest. 91 points. 5-11-2010
