NV Quevedo Rose Port

Post by Andy Velebil »

At some point well into the BBQ with Oscar Quevedo at my house four days ago I remembered I had a bottle of this left in the cellar. Out it came for everyone to try since I know almost all in attendance had never had it before. I know, I should have opened it at the beginning of the evening not nearing the end, but I guess better late than never as the old saying goes....Four days later this is still holding up quite well with it's ripe strawberries, bright acidity, and surprisingly long finish. Well chilled, this is a very nice Rose Port that has held up without any noticeable deterioration four days later. Sadly this is my last bottle, as I would easily enjoy more of this Rose this summer on a warm evening.

I served this last weekend for some friends on a hot summer afternoon. Both were port drinkers, but had never had a pink port.

Served straight from the fridge it served it's purpose very well. It was refreshing to sip, and gave a new perspective on the possibilities on port.

When chilled it had an almost thick texture coming out of the bottle and a fresh fruity smell. Like the cruz pink port it had a mineral flavour with lots of strawberry to follow. A very nice bottle which i hope will keep for at least a week in the fridge.
