A cask sample tasted blind as part of this review of the 2008 vintage.
A big blackcurrant nose with some spice. Medium weight with dark cherry and lots of acidity. The finish is initially dry, with some heat, but then develops into a mouth-watering sweetness. Good solid port. 89 points.

Although I have not spent days with the bottle as you were fortunate to do, in a snapshot view this was pretty spectacular juice. I do have one waiting for me to get around to it, so at some point soon, I'll do the 3-4 day thing.

I just didn't seem to get along with this one as much as I did with the other 4 from TFP. One to try again given your description.
Re: 2008 Croft Quinta da Roeda
My only tasting of this was a 10 minute snapshot, although side by side with the rest of the lineup, it stood out (in that quick frame) as the winner. Nothing like 3-4 days with a bottle to discredit all snapshot view impressions though. With cask samples ... we are ALL still learning, even those in the trade. Heck, even JS! ![In Training [d_training.gif]](./images/smilies/d_training.gif)
