2008 Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port

Post by Derek T. »

A cask sample tasted blind as part of this review of the 2008 vintage.

A good open nose with red berries and molasses. Thick textured with lots of red fruits, acidity, grippy tannins and good structure. Very sweet finish. A good solid, reliable port. 89 points.

Whoa, not up to your typical standards for Vesuvio. I can't wait to read what Alex thought of his "baby" V. Looking forward to trying this one for sure!

I was surprised when I unwrapped this one after I had written the above note and score. You will see form Alex's note that he was more impressed than I was but we had samples taken at slightly different times. I'm looking forward to trying it again.

Interesting. I probably won't get to taste this one until the fall. Thanks for your impression.
