Decant: 3½ hours - Pale rose in colour, slightly lighter than the 1938 shown alongside it, paling on the rim. Quite closed on the nose, showing heat and a slight meatiness. Silky initially in the mouth; sweet and with mature fruit developing very nicely in the mid-palate and bringing plenty of interest. Long aftertaste - a superb flare of nutmeg - and then a long, long aftertaste of sweet cranberriesamd a supporting quinine bitterness. Very enjoyable. 90 points
