TN: 1983 Offley Boa Vista Vintage Port

Post by Al B. »

Decant: 3 hours - A deep red colour, very little sign of aging or maturity. Very much a primary fruit driven smell - lots of sweet blackcurrants; initially very difficult to get past a rather overwhelming amount of spirit dominating this blackcurrant. In the mouth there was lots of sweet blackcurrant, but this was a very young port, still tannic and raw even after 25 years. The aftertaste was disappointing, being dominated by the spirit and rather short. A wine to tuck away for another decade or to decant for 24+ hours, a serious heavyweight if it pulls iteself together properly. 88 points
