TN: 2003 Taylor Vintage Port

Post by Al B. »

Decant: 6 hours - From a half bottle. Deeper in colour that the Croft or Noval shown alongside, the centre only just transparent. Very full on the nose, blackcurrants and blueberries with a characteristic Vargellas spearmint undertone. Restrained on entry, the sweet fruitiness held back by a mass of tannins which stay very much at the front of this port. Lots of fierce acidity, but the fruit is always present and a very serious mouthfeel. The huge aftertaste is very impressive, fruit driven but with the chocolates from the tannins merging in well with the rest of the flavours. This is a wonderful wine and one which needs another decade before the components will have fully integrated, but which will then last a lifetime. 93 points
