TN: 1995 Warre LBV Port

Decant: 12 hours - Traditional LBV. A bottle from Sainsbury's sale of summer 2008. Deep red, opaque centre, just beginning to pale on the rim but still appearing so youthful. A floral nose, grassy, but with some grapefruit citrus notes. A little harsh in the mouth with overwhelming acidity burning the tip of the tongue, but then this softens and the blackcurrant comes through. There is a surprising amount of tannin hidden away here, but this is still very young and youthful looking. The aftertaste is impressive, big and mouthfulling, full of refined fruit and mild chocolate blancmange - but so long lasting as to be quite stunning. Enjoyable to drink now, this is likely to be even better with another 12 hours in the decanter or another 5-10 years in the bottle. One to seek out at a sensible price. 89 points
