They indicated to me that they wouldn't ship until November.

They had a default shipment timeframe, but I think you could call and get them shipped sooner. I'm going to to start having stuff shipped to me. 90 F here today is the forecast, but in another week the highs will be in the 70s. If I wait too long I run the risk of it being too cold for bottles that have to cross the Rockies.

I think that Flickinger will be very flexible if you speak with them directly.

Their default shipping date is October 25th unless you arranged some other time when you ordered.

I am hoping to have mine shipped in time to arrive by my birthday (arrive by the 2nd week of October). I'm a little iffy on whether this is a terribly wise decision, but I would like to have it by then as my family will be here visiting and I'd like to share it with them.

I received my shipment on Friday, all safe and sound. I opened a bottle of Oscar's red for a casual pizza dinner with friends. I found that I enjoyed how it tasted alongside our green salad with feta vinaigrette. I'll be opening some of the Port (along with my 1980 Colheita) when my family arrives for my birthday celebration this weekend. [yahoo.gif]

Melanie,

Glad to hear your Quevedo arrived. Our gang including Moses, Frederick, Glenn, David, Andy and others from FTLOP, all spent a fun filled afternoon at Quevedo today and had dinner with him at the Quinta. We had the 2009 version of Oscar's and quite a few Ports too.

Oh, I wish I had been there to share the festivities. Glad you all are having a great adventure. Hopefully my turn will come soon! In the meantime, I'll hoist a glass (or two) of Quevedo as I celebrate my 30th birthday. :winebath:

My shipment arrived on Friday! Haven't opened any of the Port yet, but I'm already making plans with friends to do so. We opened a bottle of Oscar's red wine and it's already gone! :yumyum:

Got my shipment today. The bottles in the little sampler pack are about twice as big as I expected. Those are like gold to me. Looking forward to it. [yahoo.gif]

I didn't participate in the offering. But I stopped by Flickinger's offices last week to pick up some other items, and it sounds like they are expecting to restock some of the Quevedo offerings eventually, so I hope to pick up a few at that time. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to reading some tasting notes from the early buyers here...

Since I live in Maryland, a state where I am not allowed to have wine shipped directly to my home, I had it shipped to a friend's in Virginia. The first box was delivered successfully. Unfortunately, UPS tried to deliver the second box a few hours later and my hyper-paranoid friend refused to open the door because it was dark, "it was a scary man" and she didn't feel safe. Nevermind that the scary man was driving a UPS truck and wearing a UPS uniform and delivering the wine that I told her was coming this week. They can be very cunning, those "scary men."

So, my second box of wine is on a truck heading back to Illinois. I sent an email to Flickinger asking them to re-send, at my additional expense.

I will need to open a bottle of Port tonight to ease my pain.

Reading some of these stories, it exemplifies why we call it ... for the love of Port!

That said, that gal in VA needs some serious work. We should all [beg.gif]
