2003 Vinhos Oscar Quevedo Porto LBV - Portugal, Douro, Porto (10/9/2010)
This is an impressive LBV for the money. A bit sweeter than most, with a Graham-like mouthfeel. For all the richness and sweetness, this has very good lip-smacking acidity. Strong chocolate-covered cherry flavors. This might be a port that would pair well with a chocolate dessert. Superb value. (92 pts.)
I've enjoyed this bottling on several occasions and it is quite solid. We recently had the 2004 and 2005 Quevedo LBVs too, during the Port Harvest Tour. I preferred the 2004 to the 2005, by a point.
Can't wait to try one of these, as I purchased a 6-pack during the FTLOP buying opportunity. That was an awesome price!
Like Roy, I slightly preferred the 2004 LBV to the 2005 LBV, but in my case it was by 2 points. I was mostly just happy to have correctly identified the 2 LBVs vs the 1 VP, and to be pretty close on the years. I guessed '03 (which was the '04), '05, and '07 (which was their '08).
