Here was an impression for a couple of years ago, you can check the TNDB to compare it to 2005:
3,700 bottles produced. Fine aromas with roasted meat, smoky tobacco, mocha, blackberry and oaky-vanilla. Dark berry fruit, every expressive and a delicious youngster, given a tough viticulture year. The oak needs more time (obviously) to have this show better integration, yet knowing MT, this will certainly get there. Regardless, the fruit is powerful and at the perfect ripeness level for my palate, I found it extremely well balanced (except the oak) and harmonious, with only superlatives for the textural pleasure. Ample acidity and tannins that are massive but smooth help deliver the symmetry I mentioned above. The finish blew my mind as it carried on and on and on with a brilliant chocolate aftertaste. Maybe the best MT to this point, which I can't believe I am saying about 2006. An exemplary bottling and I realize my score is way above one or two other critics. 96 Points
