I'm very happy to see that our wines are finally arriving to our friends' homes! It took a while, but I can finally say that our Ports (and Oscar's wine!) are finally in, at least, 20 American households! [d_training.gif]

Gary, I'm sure you don't find it funny, but I laughed like a crazy with your story!!!

I have the first case safely in my cellar. The re-delivery of the gift pack was attempted, yesterday, but nobody was home. UPS will try again on Monday. I have told the (potentially ex) friend that if she messes this up ... I am done with her!

When all the Port has been delivered safely to me, I am sure I will laugh about it ... but not just yet. [dash1.gif]

Mine was delivered safely as well. I'm just out of town so will have to wait to sample.

All is well. The gift pack is now safe and sound, so the delivery is complete. Flickinger was extremely helpful and a pleasure to deal with.

Thanks for the feedback Gary and glad everything went well. There's a very good reason why we chose to go through Flickinger. They are outstanding and both Tom & Peter (owners) are fantastic to work with. I've enjoyed their selections and service for several years with great results!

Picked all mine up from the offsite and got them home safely, where things weren't so safe. As I was opening the box containing the single varietal samples, I didn't realize the piece of wood that holds the bottles in had come off during shipping. So as I pulled the wood box out one of the bottles (Touriga Nacional) fell out, bounced off the table, hit the tile floor, and shattered. Luckily it was a small bottle and not a full 750, so clean up wasn't too bad, but I am still upset at myself. :(

As I recall, the sample pack came with the lower board not permanently installed. I think it was that way so they could put the bottles in with the wrapping material.

That sounds familiar - I think that's how mine arrived also.

Has anyone tried any of their sample-pack bottles, yet?

I am enjoying my first bottle of 1996 Colheita. Nice cherry flavors up front with a good mouth feel and smooth spirit.

Not yet, but I think I may do that over Christmas/New Year's. Should be fun!
