1976 Kopke Colheita Port

Post by Glenn E. »

Purchased by the glass at Vino Bella Wine Bar in Issaquah.

1976 Kopke Colheita
bottling date unknown

Color: dark tawny, significantly brown, but poor lighting so possibly showing darker than it actually was
Nose: Some alcohol, soft vanilla, light oak
Palate: Very nice. Mildly tart apricot. Some heat, some roasted grain. Very rich and smooth sweetness like a brown sugar enhanced graham cracker pie crust. Gorgeous mouth feel.
Finish: Very pleasant. Nice warmth and very good length. Some brown sugar and caramel. Fades away evenly, lingering for minutes.

Score: 94 pts. I was pleased to see this on the menu as I have a bottle in my cellar. Now I wish I'd bought more of them during the FTLOP buying opportunity!
