2003 Quinta do Crasto Vinha da Ponte Douro
Served blind. Very youthful primary fruit seemed to structured for a Reserva, but the oak was mostly subdued which led me to guess 2001 or 2002 vintage. While there was lots of dense fruit, bordering on too much, with fierce tannins and acidity. When it was revealed it was the 2003 Ponte, it made sense as it was a very hot year with very ripe fruit. This is a very nice wine, but I prefer the 2003 Vinha Maria Teresa at this point. Time will tell which ends up being the better of the two. 93 Points
