1992 Andresen Colheita Port

Post by Lamont Huxley »

Bottled in 2010.

I decided to decant this bottle and these notes were taken after about 30 hours in the decanter...

Medium brick color with an amber rim that fades to clear. The nose shows marmalade, fudge, dried apricot, cinnamon and vanilla/oak notes. Sweet and concentrated on entry with the marmalade and fudge elements echoed from the nose. The midpalate gets a little hot and spirity with spicy cinnamon notes taking over and then transitions into a long and persistent finish filled with roasted hazelnuts.

Could perhaps use a touch more balance in the middle, but the exceptionally long and nutty finish makes this a very enjoyable colheita. 92 pts, tasted 2/11

Lamont,

Thanks for the TN. I am just curious -- 30 hours -- any reason for going that far out in decanter? [shrug.gif] How was it showing earlier on?
Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com

Hi Roy,

I opened this bottle for a small family gathering a few nights ago and my brother and I finished it off on the following night. It wasn't an intentional plan, just worked out that I took my notes on day 2. In this case the port held up very well. The spirit smoothed out a bit with the extra day in the decanter though I wouldn't say it changed much.
