- 1989 D'Oliveiras Madeira Malvazia - Portugal, Madeira (2/24/2011)
Popped and poured. Very impressive for such a youngster. As soon as I pulled the cork I could smell that lovely rancio bouquet. This shows some sweetness , but the acids are strong and tangy that it finishes quite dry... much like a fine Mosel spatlese Riesling would do. Caramel, lime skin and brown spices. Good weight, balance and length. Can't wait to follow this over the next few days. (92 pts.)

Hi.
Tasted this maybe two years ago. I remember being very impressed by it - amazing balance and strength.
Really good wine.
Cheers,
Pedro V.

I did not think this was released as of yet. I saved a bottle for my last night here in Portugal to share with some close friends. I came away with the same score as Marco did. However, this was closer to a Verdelho in my opinion given the dry entry and finish. Otherwise lovely. My TN is in the next newsletter.
