2007 Qta do Crasto Vinha Da Ponte at WTSO

Post by Sandy Becker »

The current WTSO offer is for 2007 Quinta do Crasto Vinha Da Ponte. It's $89.99 + free shipping. There are no notes on it in the TNDB - has anyone had it? Is the price reasonable?

By the time I clicked on the full description, it had sold out. That'll teach me to go out for dinner, I guess. Even if it were available, I have to wonder why this wine would need to have 15.5% ABV.

I didn't see this offer until too late... Vinha da Ponte and Maria Teresa are Crasto's two high-end reds, and everything I've heard about them says they're fabulous. I'd have probably bought a couple for my wife just to have something really spectacular for some special occasion.

I already own a case but at that price, would likely have purchased more. I've only had it twice, not sure why my notes have not been transcribed though. It is a fine version. I had the 2004 again on Saturday afternoon. The 2007 is equally as great but was oaky, really oaky as a baby. It will like all Crasto's do, integrate with bottle age.
