My wife participates in the ACPT every year, and conveniently there is a lively Port tasting group in New York City. So every year we plan a Port tasting to coincide with the tournament, and this was the 2011 edition.

1983 Dow Vintage Port

Color: Medium dark red - roughly equivalent to the 1991 and possibly the 1997.
Nose: Dusty and slightly sour, possibly sour cherries.
Palate: Rich but sour and edgy.
Finish: Good length. Sour note from palate fades into tart fruits on the finish.

Score: 90 points. I think it's possible that this was an off bottle, but since I can't detect any obvious flaws I'll go ahead and rate it. It's excellent, it just feels like it might normally be better than this.
