1981 Royal Wedding Madeira
I have a bottle of Royal Wedding Madeira from 1981 which I'd like to sell (see picture). It has historical value, apparently fetched above 300 GBP at past auctions and might be appreciated by collectors with an interest in British Royalty especially now in the context of the new royal wedding. I bought it from an Oxford College a few years ago, where it had been sitting in the Fellows' Wine Cellar for decades. Could anybody give me a reasonable estimate on it or a hint where I could sell it?
Many thanks for your expertise

300 GBP sounds like a lot of money for that. I have a bottle Fonseca Royal Wedding Port that was no where near that at the time I bought it. Perhaps times have changed? If you can get 150 for it, I think you made out well...

It wasn't my estimate Moses, I just found this auction record from a few years ago through google:

it went for 340 GBP then...

Doesn't it say 12 bottles?

Yes it does appear to be for a 12 bottle lot. Which would mean it sold for about £28 per bottle or about $46 USD at current exchange rates.Andreas Platt wrote:Doesn't it say 12 bottles?

Well, my question was a rhetoric one...

Ha! You're right guys - I shouldn't have drunk the bottle before googling it. Oh wait, no, I'm going to do that now!
Thanks for your responses anyway.

If Port is hard to come by in Germany, then Madeira must be nearly impossible to find there!?!?
