1977 Presidential Vintage Port

Post by Andy Velebil »

Presidential is the USA label for Dalva, so same Port different name. Very pale with some bricking. Sweet licorise nose. Soft and delicate texture, cinnamon, very light red fruit just hanging on, and a clipped finish. The lack of heat on the palate is allowing this fully mature Port to still hold together but if this bottle is representative I'd drink up in the near future. I've never had this particular VP before and was pleasantly surprised by it. Interestingly it had a cork that was printed "Dalva Vintage 1978" and the label said it was bottled in 1980, 3 years after harvest. I've got to research the 1978 bit as I'm not sure if they just ran out of corks or it was a misprint. Everything, including the orginal wax and Selo were still on it.
