Niepoort Tawny Port

Post by John M. »

I purchased this for $14 this week. Being warm weather, I put it in the fridge. Pop and pour last night in an informal chat with a friend. T Cork.

The color is closer to ruby than tawny showing very dark red towards deep magenta. Very distinct dried fruit aroma--near a raisin or cranberry/cherry. The aftertaste is medium in length--notably there is not a lot of heat which surprised me a little, especially since I popped & poured. While a tawny, it tended towards a bit of ruby characteristics--almost like a blend--but no floral, just mature fruit. In the medium finish, got that hint of raisin again. Just slightly acidic.

For $14 this is a good value and enjoyable.
