2000 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port

Post by Stewart T. »

There was something funky on the nose for this bottle of Noval. Bright fruit with bing cherry and medium tannins on the mid-palate, but the nose detracted from the otherwise pleasant wine. (89 pts.)

Stewart,

I opened a bottle of this early this year and recall that it was very tight, closed and unyielding, so much so that people at the table didn't want to believe that it was a Vintage Port (it was served blind). It sounds like there was something wrong with your bottle.

There had to have been. The 2000 Noval VP (no less the Nacional from the same vintage) is an exceptional bottling. Stewart's had it enough times to know how good the 2000 can be when bottles are right. He's had the Nacional several times too! [friends.gif]
