TN: 2003 Quinta da Gaivosa Douro red
Produced by Alves de Sousa. Decanted 3.5 hrs. Dark red colour with a light rim. Powerful aroma of oak and some spices. Full body. The taste is powerful, balanced and a bit spicy. The oak is well integrated, long finish. A “big wine”, however without elegance. As I like the Douro reds to have the combination powerful and elegance this wine will not hit the 90s. Will probably benefit from several more years in the cellar. This was my 2nd bottle, one more to go. 89 pts.
