2001 Taylor LBV Port

Post by Jim R. »

Opened 9/27/11; Deep garnet color. On opening closed, sweet cassis nose, soft, clean plum, mocha, blackberry flavors, very integrated, no alcohol (alc) heat, soft finish
1 1/2 hour-lighter, sweeter blackberry, cassis nose, flavors of plum, cassis, mocha, licorice, good body and structure, a little alc showing but OK
2 1/2 hour-mild, slightly musty blackberry nose, clean blackberry flavors with good structure, very nice and balanced
2 days-deeper blackberry/cassis nose; soft, clean plum, blackberry with a little coffee, still well balanced, very fine
Good example of a fined and filtered LBVP that would not need to be aged but that held up to short term aging (four years), obviously should be drunk now through 2 years from now. 89 to 90 points because of clean fruit and balance
