2005 Taylor's LBV Port

Post by Rune EG »

Decanted 3 hrs. Dark red colour. Fresh, deep, fruity aroma of amongst others blackcurrant. Medium body. Quite elegant at start, then powerful but with a bit sharpness, acceptable tannins, a bit dry. Short to medium length of finish. 88 pts.

I just picked up a bottle of this to compare to the 2003. Do you think it would be better with a longer decant?

I tasted it both at opening and after abt 1.5 hrs, and could all the way taste the same part that I did not like at the final taste (and drinking), i.e. the sharpness and the dry part. Normally I do not decant the LBVs for 3 hrs, but since it had this non-preferable taste towards the end of each tasting, it ended up being a longer decant.

Would be interesting to hear what happens if you decant it longer, f.ex. 6-8 hrs.
