Purchased at Porto airport tax free shop on the way home from FTLOP Harvest Tour 2011. Acc. to label on the bottle the wine is made in partnership between Joao van Zeller and the Symington family. 2005 is still in early days of the Douro red-development, and I trust that the quality of their present wines are much better than the one we had with dinner.
Decanting 2 hrs. Quite a bit with sediments, and had to decant it twice. Darker red with a light rim. Subdued aroma of black currant and oak. Taste is for the first seconds quite smooth and oak in a nice way, but then ”a wall” of pepper is hitting me. This pepper is dominating the taste throughout the meal. Medium body and medium length in aftertaste. Alc is 13 % vol. 83 pts.
