1977 Quarles Harris Vintage Port

Post by Andy Velebil »

A pale ruby that is now starting to show it's age. Sweet and thick early on leads to a lighter mid-palate and finish full of cranberries and some woody notes. A medium length finish caps off a pleasant and easy drinking VP. Not the most complex '77, and while I've had some bottle variation in this one, this bottle is drinking very nicely at the moment. I'd recommend to drink over the next 4-5 years for maximum enjoyment.

Interesting that we had the same VP just a few days apart. I was fortunate that the bottle I had was still considerably darker than what you report here. Not even sure where or when I purchased it. A tale of two bottles, like almost all VP's from this era, there's lots of bottle variation as you often note too.
