TN: 2008 Pombal do Vesuvio Douro -- Quinta do Vesuvio

Post by Andy Velebil »

No decanting and consumed over about two hours. Black fruit and tar nose. Darker fruit profile than the 2007 version with lots of tar, black cherries, and plenty of minerality. A slight bitter component on the medium long finish. This was already dropping a lot of sediment, staining the inside of the bottle.

Ultimately, did you prefer the 2007 or 2008 version?

I preferred the 2007 version, more for it's freshness of fruit. The 2008 was a little less clean and that slight bitter component on the end brought it down a notch.
