Single quinta Ports key to Douro’s future

Post by Andy Velebil »

A very good article on SQVP's
[Paul] Symington told the drinks business: “Quinta vintage Ports such as Graham’s Malvedos 1999, Dow’s Bomfim 1999 and Warre’s Cavadinha 1996 are a key part of our future strategy.

“These wines reinforce the fantastic ‘terroir’ story of the Douro, they are all beautiful vineyards with ancient heritage in stunning locations and producing superb wines.

The single quinta wines is getting better and better, of course you need sun, but the winemakers getting better and better making perfect wines.

The complexity in the wines is missing, when you only use grapes from one quinta, but i like them anyway

A small quinta may not be able to produce as fully complex wine as some of the big names, but there are plenty of single quintas that can grow a lot of different varieties with variable sun exposure, topography, etc.

I thought most Croft from the last 40-50 years had been single Quinta from Roeda?
