1997 Krohn LBV Port

Post by Al B. »

Decant: 4 hours - Bottled in 2001. Mature red in colour, 80% opaque. Nose is similar to the Taylor and Niepoort LBVs shown alongside this wine (which is not a good thing!) but the wine has a lovely texture on entry. It is clear on the palate that the bottle has suffered from stink and these flavours dominate the early palate. Aeration removes these flavours and allows a soft strawberry candy to come through. The wine has a lovely aftertaste, filling the mouth with milk chocolate and raisin flavours and with a great length. Drinkg well today - but not a wine I would rush to buy. 84 points
