#7 in the Wine Spectator Top 100!
The wines in the top ten usually disappear really quickly. But we just came onto this parcel and jumped on it right away! A great deal on a very unique wine!
Most of us are familiar with Port, but are in the dark regarding the ever-increasing quality of Portugal's dry wines. Like Rodney, they get no respect. Until now, that is. So here's the perfect example of what's going on to the west of Spain that you need to know about.
2008 Quinta do Vallado Touriga Nacional $45 WS 95 Points ! $135/3 pack
"Powerful and concentrated, boasting medium-grained tannins that support the dense plum and berry flavors, which feature plenty of ferrous, minerally notes. Mocha and spice linger on the long finish. Very well-crafted, finely balanced and pure-tasting. Needs time in the cellar. Best from 2012 through 2020".
This beauty is made from Touriga Nacional, a red wine grape considered by many to be Portugal's finest (despite it's low yields), and a main component of Port itself. The tiny berries of Touriga Nacional have a high skin to pulp ratio which heightens the amount of extract in the wines. So think big, full, and deep. And age worthy. Arrives-Summer

That is a darn good price for the Vallado TN. I bought a case from 2007 and pretty much everyone agrees the 2008 is better ... which is saying a lot!
Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com
