What type of glass do you prefer to use for Portuguese wines?

Post by Andy Velebil »

I used to use a Bordeaux wine glass but this year I've been using mostly a burgundy glass and found it gave better aromatics and flavors, at least for Douro wines.

So what do you prefer to use?

I tend to prefer a Syrah glass over a Bdx. glass b/c I like how the slightly narrower opening of the Syrah glass concentrates the aromas more than the wider opening of the Bdx. glass.

I have to say, though, the idea of using a Pinot glass intrigues me! I'll have to give it a swirl next time I have one open (sadly, I'm reading this a day late, as it was just yesterdaythat I had an '07 Tedo Grande Reserva Savedra open!)

I had the Savedra last Saturday, a very good wine and it didn't last long once opened. If I had more shipper space I'd br bringing some back with me. WhenI get more time I'll start to get some TN's up from my trip.
