1966 Taylor Fladgate Vintage Port

Post by Tom D. »

1966 Taylor (Fladgate) Porto Vintage - Portugal, Douro, Porto (2/5/2012)
Generally consistent with previous bottles, just a bit muted and flat, showing a shade too much spirit that never blew off. (89 pts.)

Been a long time since I've had this wine but I never thought it was up to Taylor's

standards(IMO 1966 was a great year for Ports).

I've had good bottles of the 1966 that I've liked quite a bit (mid to low 90's score), but there is quite a bit of bottle variation.

The only 1966's I've had are Taylor and Graham's, and I remember that I definitely preferred the Graham's.

Of the several bottles of this I've opened, I recall one that was stunningly good, the rest have been just so-so. This VP seems to be on the light and feminine side most of the time, and can easily be blown away by unbalanced alcohol.
