2007 Niepoort Charme Douro
Surprisingly lighter in color than the 2002 Charme. Semi sweet and not showing the same level of complexity at this stage of it’s life. Yet the young cherries and moderate tannins have good potential. A long cherry finish was enhanced by the minerality and elegance this wine retains. As I find typical with Charme, it doesn’t always show as well when young, then it suddenly gets its feet and is off and running. And when it does there is no slowing it down.
