TN: 2009 Niepoort Tiara Branco Douro

Post by Andy Velebil »

Wet stones and cantaloupe on the nose. The body treads between being medium and light bodied with stone fruit and a healthy dose of minerality. It's this minerality which sets it apart from many other Douro whites. The long finish brings forth the citrus zing and blast of acidity. Drinks wonderfully now but has the capability to age a few years as well, and may be even better then. I've had several bottles of this now and I can tell you it's the perfect summer white.

Interesting, I had this tonight with Moses coming for a last minute trip to Montreal. My tasting notes are very similar to yours, it is definitively better than what it tasted last year. I thought it did gain some weight and definition, on the better side, since last year while keeping its freshness. Out of 12, unfortunately I only have one bottle left now! It was a fantastic pair with the salmon tartare.

Frederick, it is great having you back here once again. Thanks for coming back, you've been missed over the past year. [welcome.gif]
