1950 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port

Decant: 1½ hours - Bottled by Hedges & Butler. Initially very muddy looking, but decanting through coffee filter paper produced a clear and attractive port; mahogany red with a light brown rim, 20% opaque. Wonderful nose, really attractive; full of concentrated fruit - dominated by fresh bood oranges. Mouthfilling. Soft satin texture on the palate, not strongly flavoured but lovely and balanced with mild coffee and soft burnt raisin. Slightly hot, burnt raisin aftertaste and finish. Absolutely lovely port. 90 points
