TN: 2003 Quinta da Mata Maceda Douro Red

Some menthol on the nose and it smells a little hot, even after a couple of hours in the decanter, It's a different story on the palate though. Savoury with muted fruit flavours and fine tannins. Excellent length. My last bottle of this - I wish I had some more. 91 points

I've only ever seen this vintage of it too. The importer works as a fly-in winemaker at Esporao's Douro quinta, so it was probably something he stumbled accross while working there. I think I would have bought this early 2010 so it was brought into the country with a bit of bottle age already on it. I'll ask the guy about it next time he runs a tasting that I can attend.
