Calem 10 Year Old Tawny Port -- PV Collections

Post by Rune EG »

Brought home from the 2012 FTLOP Harvest Tour. Bottled 2011.
3.5 hrs decanting. Brownred colour. Surprising with so much brown colour on a young tawny of 10 yrs.
Aroma dominated by wood, burnt caramel and cardamom. Too much spirit the first day, however two days later it had mellowed. Pleasant taste, well-balanced, but very little berries. Medium body. Medium length aftertaste. Probably a tawny that will age quickly. Ready to drink now. 86 pts.

Funny, last week, I wrote up the same Port. I liked it a little more than you but did not find the same level of brown color as you.

How much expectation could one have for a Calem 10 year?

I know I'm in a minority, but I really liked their 10. Maybe it was the experience of being there with my wife during a really nice day.
