1955 Cockburn Vintage Port

Post by Tom D. »

Quite pale and tawny in color, yellow at the rim. Ungiving on the nose, showing some orange peel. Hot and acidic palate, light, very tawny, with flashes of chocolate and caramel, but virtually no fruit other than a prunish overtone. More heat through the short finish. Decent drinking, but this bottle was well past prime. From half bottle, Oporto-bottled, EWR import, base neck, very clean. 87 pts.

I've had some variability in these in the past few years. Some showing well, some average. I assume the 1/2 bottle format was partially to blame in this case.
