2011 Fonseca Vintage Port

Post by David Spriggs »

Opaque. Brooding nose. Roasted cherries. There is a high toned plum / blackberry note. Wow! HUGE intensity. Very texturally smooth mouth feel. There is a touch of green (in a good way). There is some grapefruit in the extremely long finish. Very substantial but fine tannins. This was a super impressive Port. It’s reminiscent of a hypothetical blend of the 1985 and 1994 Fonsecas. Take the structure and mouth feel of the 1985 and combine it with the purity and solid acidity of the 1994 Fonseca. Very impressive! One of my favorites of the day. Don’t miss it! 96-98+ points
