Bottled in 2009. Pop and pour. Very clear, bright rusty tawny appearance. Complex nose - beeswax and smoke. The palate hits with the impresion on apricots and peaches and then turned into a nutty, toffee finish. Very clean and fresh. A touch of alcoholic heat, but I think of that as a stylistic signature of Krohn - not a surprise and not out of place either. Coffee notes echoing on the medium length finish. Yes, it's overtly sweet, but not too sweet. The citrus in the finish really keeps the sweetness from getting out of hand. Very balanced and so drinkable. A really lovely wine. 92 points
I like Tawny Ports with this amount of age (22 years in cask). It takes that amount of time for them to get seriously tawny, but not too old that they are tired. This wine is right in that sweet spot.
