Found a 375ml 1980 Gould Campbell for $32 y or n?

Post by Lindsay E. »

I've read people's tasting notes on this particular VP in FTLOP database. The review seem mixed, or at least the bottles seem to be hit and miss. Is this worth trying at $32 or is $32 just the going rate?

If it appears well stored I say go for it!

I got mine for $20 each from Wine Library. I'd get more at that price, but I'd put my $32 into something else. That's just me. If you haven't had one, it could be worth a try.

at $32 equates to $64 for a regular bottle. That's seems fair, not a steal nor are you getting taken; yes, it was to be had cheaper from the Wine Library a while back, but I have not seen it that cheap since and that was 1-2 years ago. I just had it in March with a bunch of PORT folks in NYC and it held up very well and was one of the better ones of the night. Factor in the small size (ages faster) and I would go for it. (I brought this to the tasting and wish I had a couple more).
Any Port in a storm!

Lindsey,

No brainer. Grab it. Not the greatest price in the world, but the VP itself is very solid.

If I could grab good 30+ y/o VP for 16/glass, I'd buy a bunch.

thanks guys!

I'll get back over there on Sunday and grab the bottle...Esp. if they have a decent return policy regarding corked vintaged wines. I'll report back after I try it. Thanks to everyone who took the time to chime in!
